Sorry but GS/OS can only be booted from a ProDOS volume. GS/OS
doesn't know how to read stuff from an HFS disk until the HFS.FST gets
loaded but that isn't until some time into the boot process.

You can, however, make the ProDOS partition that you wish to boot from
just big enough to hold GS/OS and all the add-ons you want and make
the rest of the disk HFS. 5 MB - 10 MB should be lots of room for
lots of fonts, inits, desk accessories and such. My system, which is
fairly loaded, is about 6.5 MB.

HFS is quite buggy so it isn't recommeded for storing important data.
However, with Dave Lyons patch that gets applied by the patching
program written by Jawaid Bazyar, one of the nastier bugs in the
HFS.FST is fixed so if you are using HFS volumes, make sure you use
this patch program before formating those volumes.
