Horror Story Number TWO! (Apple Disk Transfer Program.)
Subject: Horror Story Number Two
The Apple Disk Transfer Program Saga Continues!
(The original problems for which this posting is a follow up is
listed below.)
Maybe I have the switches on the Apple II Serial Card wrong.
I used the following settings from the read me file of the adt
documentation. I have no idea what they really mean:
F means Off, N means On.
For number 1: FFFFNNN
For number 2: NNFNFFF
Jumper on Modem.
Ok I popped the case of my pc and connected the com 1 thing on the
main board to the external pc 25 pin connector on the pc case and then
tried adt again. This time I got a little further!
When I typed adt 1 19200. The Pc said ready so it did open port 1!
Recall it had never opened port 2. And adt on the pc wrote some
progress form on the screen.
But when I turned on the Apple II and tried ADT from that end
to do a disk transfer or take a catalog nothing happened.
The two computers never seemed to communicate at all.
Now I have 25 pin connectors coming out of both the Pc and the Apple II+.
So is there some sort of null modem problem? Do I have to
flip the wires?
Are there people who have gotten ADT to work?
Are there any better programs?
Please e-mail any help or suggestions.

For those interested here was horror story number 1:
Subject: Trouble Shooting Recommendations Sought for Apple Disk
Transfer Program 1.20
Ok, here is horror story number one.
I'll post about story number two once this one is solved
and I get to the next one.
Ok here is the situation.
I am trying to use ADT 1.20 Apple Disk Transfer Program.
Somehow I got the binary and applesoft basic program to
the Apple II+ and saved them using the serial card. So
the card sort of works. Maybe. I guess.
I just bought a used super serial card for my Apple II+.
I have a Pentium PC so I don't think I have bad ports.
Cause I run my 56K modem out of port 2.
When I run ADT on my PC under windows 95, it will not
let me select serial port 2. EVER. At any speed!
This is the only external port I have.
I cannot get it to take any speed at all.
However, it always will accept serial port #1 which cannot
be used cause there is no physical hookup in back.
What do I do?
Is there a better program than ADT?
My plan is to transfer my old disks to .dsk files for
Apple Windows emulator . . . Which Works.
Please e-mail me suggestions.
