Most Apple ][ disk were boot
disks.
I
don't think that you can't boot from the external floppy drive.
What I would do is
buy a 5¼ disk cleanar. Put the disk in the
floppy drive and turn the Apple on.
Do
this 2 to 3 times.
Try
your disks again. Al least you should get a different error.
If
not, maybe you could try those disks on another apple ][ (if possible,
obviously...)

Hi,
I got an apple//c computer at a yard sale and have been slowly adding on
to it thru e-bay. When I bought the computer it didn't have any disks
with it so I bought some used ones over the internet. My problem now is
when I insert a disk into the internal or external drive the monitor
keeps saying" check disk drive" and nothing happens. When I
first turn it on the power light lights and I hear a beep then the disk
use light comes on and the drive motor spins then stops and the disk
light goes out and then the message on the screen reads"check disk
drive". Can someone please tel me what I'm doing wrong. By he way I
have two computers and they both do the same thing. The software is the
systems utilities, apple basic, apple at play and apple introduction so
they are made for this computer. Could the disks be bad? Please help,
Thanks Ray
