System Saver IIe: reliable, versatile, useful

Many users are selling their old Kensington System Saver IIe at low cost;
but do you realize what a fine product this is?

The Rotron sprite 115V AC fan model # SU2C1 is _superior_ to the cheaper
fan installed in System Saver IIgs, model # SU2C7.  The IIe fan is
quieter,
and does not give the annoying "rumble" sound in any spatial orientation.
The cheaper fan in SS-IIgs rumbles.  Fortunately, you can move the IIe fan
into the IIgs housing --- getting quiet and more air flow!

The SS-IIe fan is still produced, but it is expensive.  Digi-key sells
this
fan new for about $23 each (!),

Buzz Bester (Huntington Beach CA) Uses TWO SS-IIe units on his IIe.  The
first hangs on the left side --- as usual --- while the second hangs on
the
right side.  For the right-hanger, he REVERSED the fan inside the housing
so that it pushes the air.  The two fans together have a strong
"push-pull"
combined effect with excellent air flow.  (For cosmetic appearance, the
pigtail female AC plug can be removed from the right-fan).  Buzz reports
that
he fit an AC voltmeter into one of the two ac-sockets on the right-hanger
fan.

The SS-IIe has a SURGE PROTECTOR circuit, so it could be used as an
extension
cord for any applances that will benefit from surge-protection.  Just
disconnect the fan, and use the unit as a heavy-duty surge-protected
extension cord!
