Yep, MouseDesk (later renamed Apple II Desktop) was included as
the program launcher and file manager in Apple IIgs System Software
right up until System 2.0. You could easily run it on a 128K IIe or
IIc system with 5.25 drive (MouseDesk, not ProDOS 16 of course).
It got replaced with the GS-specific Finder in System 3. IMO,
the first usable System System release for the GS didn't arrive
though until late 1989, when System 5.0.2 was introduced.

Nope, MouseDesk/Apple II Desktop used monochrome Double-Hi-Res
graphics (560x192), which is not native to the Apple IIgs. If you
want examples of programs that used mousetext, they would include
ProTERM, MouseWrite, MouseTalk or MouseCalc (they are in TEXT mode
mode, but use 32 special mousetext characters found only on the
IIgs, IIc and Enhanced IIe. It's kind of similar to IBM ANSI text
with its 256 special characters).
