Re: Driven away?
Rubywand said some cowpatties, in and among the following:
> Have you forgotten your Wolfenstein 3D "bug" antics?
The rest of us haven't forgotten your charges, Jeff.
| which notified users of a Wolfenstein 3D bug, produced
| work-arounds, and, probably, helped to protect a number of user
| systems from damage.
I'll agree with all of the above.
R<| has been shown to be inaccurate. You can remove the quotes. That
| it was a _bug_ in the _game_ is something any user can demonstrate
| by loading and running the new version of Wolfenstein 3D.
I have never had whatever the problem is that keeps getting cited. And
as Nathan so vehemently pointed out, it was **not** a programming error
on Sheppy's part, it was Apple's fault. To wit:
R<| You will notice that the bug in the game has been been fixed
| and that the game now runs fine under the _standard_ Apple IIgs
You will notice that there was *no* retraction by Sheppyware, *no*
revision by Sheppyware (it's still 1.0 on the website), and Eric
himself very staunchly professed that he followed the programming rules
and the bug seen is a long-known-about error in Apple's System.
So Jeff, will you kindly explain why you insist that Wolf3D has a bug
in it, and why you demanded an apology by Sheppy publicly, when every-
one else who knows diddly about System 6.0.1 can tell you that the bug
some people get slammed with resides squarely in the System. To be as
petty as some people here: You don't even know the difference between
Macintosh OS and the ACOS-spawned MACOS language, so how exactly can
you take any sort of higher ground in regard to programming or
bug-identifying? You still haven't answered that question, how in the
world you could have mixed up MacOS and MACOS in that newsletter when I
very clearly explained in my original what MACOS was and how Lysergic
was given clearance to use it for 2qwk 1.x (said details were deleted
by you, but this doesn't explain how you got the intent wrong anyway).
EXPLAIN YOUR WORDS AND ACTIONS. All of them, Jeff. Can you?
> "The only mistake I made was releasing a new Apple II title to a

I know. :) And as this thread was intended to point out, where is he?
R<| That person probably wishes you had not posted the above. It
| was a remark made in the heat of the moment by someone who was
| still fatigued after straining to meet a release deadline.
You continue to call his work, not what it ran under, flawed. Were you
under some kind of heat to demand Sheppy retract the program and
apologise for releasing such crap? (I don't have your original to
quote from, but it's easily located... others can dig it up.)
You can't escape, Rubywand. CSA2 readers have long memories and short
tempers. We know what you said and we know where you are mistaken.
