Personally, I think it would be better if you were to make them
available in their original format with the original file names.
There is at least one program for the IIgs, and I'm pretty sure there
is more, that will convert MacPaint files to whatever you need on the
IIgs. I know SuperConvert supports converting MacPaint files.
If the file names of the current files are not legal for ProDOS, you
might want to archive the images from and HFS volume. This way, using
GSHK, if you unpack to a ProDOS volume you get the chance to rename it
but if you want to keep the original name you can unpack it to an HFS
volume.
Another thing you might consider is making the archive a StuffIt
v1.5.1 archive (without any sub-directories) so that both Mac and
Apple IIgs users can use the MacPaint images from the same archive.
Just a few thoughts on making this kind of thing available.
