     The usual way to fix something like this is to ... 

mark cables with whiteout and disconnect disk drives. Disconnect
joystick, modem, monitor, ... .

Pull your Slot cards and take the time to brush off dust, clean card
contacts with alcohol swabs, and scootch-up and resocket each socketed
IC on each card and the motherboard.

Disconnect and re-connect motherboard cables- like the one to the power
supply.

Re-connect monitor and plug in 80-col card. Connect one 5.25" to the
Drive 1 position on the controller card and plug it into Slot 6 (taking
care that card contacts line up with Slot contacts).  Try powering ON
the computer and booting some known-good diskettes. ...


     The idea is to add pieces and check until something goes wrong. Or,
nothing may go wrong because the problem was a poorly socketed IC!
