     It's nice to have this information. Our Zip Drive is the standard
SCSI model. It works great as an 'extra hard disk'.

     Yes; mainly, you have something that looks and works like a SCSI
hard disk which happens to have swap-able media. The PC (or Mac) tools
would be nice (e.g. to change the Sleep delay); but, you don't have
access to them on the GS and, really, do not need them.

     Zip disks come formatted; so, unless they get messed up some how,
you just need to do a Partition via the RamFAST utilities (i.e.
ramfast.system) to use a disk. The RamFAST utilities can do a low-level
Format, too. It works fine.
