HELP HELP!!

Ok people!!

I need help!! I just happenend to get a Apple //c computer, 
its got, 
- the keyboard with all keys
- the monitor from APPLE inc.
- all power cables
- two thingys to plug into my TV  and the cable
- the case
- and a SuperWriter 294 printer box, to let my Apple //c to print on any
printer. 

but I have no diskettes and I've never used a Apple computer before =),
i need help and lots of it!! i started it up, with every thing plugged in
and I get a error message ( well I think its a error message...) it says, "
Check Disk Drive" I dont know what to do, is it the hard drive??? what do i
need to get for my apple//c computer??? I think theres a modem, I'am told
that there is but alls I see is a port in the back on the computer, but
there no cable to plug into it... please help me !!!
