The IIGS control panel says there is 1280K. It is correct. The memory
expansion card that came with all ROM 1 IIGSs only adds a maximum of
1MB. A ROM 1 GS has 256K on the motherboard, giving you 1280K total. You
are confusing the ROM 1 with the ROM 3. The ROM 3 came with 1280K on the
motherboard and no memory expansion card. I STRONGLY subjest that you
get a larger memory expansion card. I ditched mine years ago.
