Preservation of ROMs?

Hi!

I'm currently working on another emulation of the Apple II series of
computers. One thing that has *amazed* me as I've been working on this
is that there seems to be exactly 0 true ROM dumps out on the net
anywhere of the Apple II ROMs. I'm talking program ROMs, character
ROMs, keyboard decode ROMs, peripheral card ROMs, you name it.

There *are* pseudo-program ROM dumps, but these are obviously just
memory dumps as can be seen by the way they're missing $C000-$C100
(which contains credits in an Apple IIc program ROM by the way). And
even for these, I didn't see a *single* unenhanced IIe image, and only
*one* of the five IIc variants. Not to mention that these don't capture
things like the MouseText variants (removal of "the running man")...

Does *anybody* out there have true ROM dumps that they'd be willing to
contribute to archiving on the net? I've dumped the character ROM and
program ROM from my IIc as those were the only two that were socketed
:(...

Note: I'm aware that many people have negative feelings about emulation
in that it helps the spread of piracy as the cost of providing a means
of helping the hardware live on. Please recognize that archiving these
ROMs helps true Apple II owners as well though, as ROMs can go bad over
time and it will be increasingly difficult to find them. Try to find an
unenhanced set of IIe ROMs to see what I mean...

Mike
