Almost certainly, James has a ROM-00 GS which was upgraded to
ROM-01. Many early GS's had defective ADB IC's which tended to bomb over
a narrow range of relatively low temperatures-- that is, you tend to get
0911 errors (0400 with the 00 ROM) when the IC is cool. If the IC is
cold or warm, it generally works fine.

Unfortunately, the IC is soldered in place. A decent fix is to tape
a small 12V bulb powered by the "Fan" pins to the IC and enclose it to
form a mini-oven. We did this with our original ROM-00 motherboard and
0911 errors virtually disappeared.

As to which ADB IC, our notes say the ADB Controller; but, the ADB
GLU IC 'clicks' better with memories of the fix. (If someone has an "I9"
or "UI9" IC on their motherboard, please post or email info about the IC
markings!)
