If it is a crappy old 486 or a black and white Mac, I'll prefer my GS.
I actually believe my GS is more functional. Don't get the wrong
idea...I am in no way saying the GS can compete against a Pentium
or PowerMac...in fact, I use these advanced units.
When, however, the GS can be bumped to 8MB (once to 16MB with
the right cards for both ROM and RAM expansion) and it can run
a FREE version of Wolfenstein 3D that has BETTER sound effects
than the Wintel or Mac versions...well, that says something. ;-)
Besides, the main attraction of using a computer like the A2 and
double that for the Apple IIGS is that it can DO things everyone
else said can't be done. I figure this is why people polish their
LP records, old cars, and classic things like that. Like the time
a Union Pacific diesal engine failed and their restored steam
locomotive was near...the steam locomotive pushed the diesal
engine and the train it was pulling home...who would have
thought a steam engine could do THAT. ;-)
As for market forces...how do you explain the fact that the C64
market is NOT "dead"...they are getting new hardware and
software.
