Linux Netatalk and an Apple II gs

Hi, I picked up a cops LT-95 for my linux box and brought it up with
netatalk. My mac is able to mount it fine and do as it will, and although
the IIgs is able to see it and seemingly log into the linux server as a 
guest user, the drive icon doesn't appear on the desktop and nothing
seems to work. I'm wondering if anyone's had any experience with this 
scenario, or any pointers as to what one might do to make it work. 

I've been told that the GS uses a set of commands that netatalk doesn't
understand?
