Nope.  I've booted from unusually sized RAM disks.  The only requirement
is that you erase the disk before installing the system software onto
it.

If you set up the RAM disk by doing a disk copy from an 800K system
disk, then your RAM disk will also have to be 800K.

The Pascal FST has an FST-specific call which sets whether DLE expansion
is performed.  This would have to be off normally (so that arbitrary
file copy programs don't stuff up the file), but I don't know of any
programs that support turning it on.
