David, suggest to your friend to get a Focus hard drive from Alltech,
then install Easy Access from System 6.0.1. In an old issue of
II Alive, I read of a control device called a "switch". A switch hilights
all selectable items sequentially until the user activates a hand held
device by pressing it.
For a control environment, I recommend setting SetStart to boot
into HyperStudio (or, for a free alternative that I am less familiar with,
HyperCard). HyperStudio combines a paint environment with the
ability to operate using a switch controller. It is not a free ride.
He will have to learn SOME HyperStudio, but the program has a
shallow learning curve.
