MIDISurgeon is a program that was distributed with GS+ Magazine
and written by Dave Tribby.  It lets you convert MIDI files to the GS
and do it RIGHT by giving you the ability to map channels to the
right sounding instruments.

GS+ Magazine and its parent company EGO is now dead.  I think
the rights to the program must have reverted to Dave Tribby.  You
can ask him about it...he reads csa2.  I can't remember his email
address now...
