I can clearly understand why programmers, including Nathan are getting
sick of the attitude of a few people towards them, escpecially in this
newsgroup. I can also understand that alot people don't like the
attitude from the programmers to abbandon this newsgroup and only give
support at services you have to pay for, or services which seem to be
unreachable for newcomers (most people in Europe don't know what Delphi
is).

However, only a few people do post to a newsgroup, and those are
mostlikely the ones that dare to open their mouths. Again, when I had a
BBS, several folks read this newsgroup. Only 2 of them posted here
regularly. The rest got kind-of scared away.

The problem of this whole newsgroup is the disagreement between authors
who want to support and be supported, and the users who want to support,
but don't want to support the so called jerky programmers, but who do
want support for their software, etc.

My opinion is that when software is not supported in c.s.a.2, the
authors will miss quite a large potential group of users and shareware
payers (how does a newbie find out about e.g. the Byte Works other than
reading Nathan's FAQ, to name an example). On the other hand, that's the
choice of the programmer, which is his/ her good right. Delphi is
friendly, but consists of only a few people compared to c.s.a.2.

My suggestion is to post a weekly message (a SHORT one) containing the
most interesting links for newbies. This list should contain URL's of
Apple II vendors and shareware sites (no pirate sites!) and the c.s.a.2
FAQ. If someone needs to find out about asimov, someone just email him,
but please no public propaganda for this site because it only causes
flames.

This solution should lead to much less traffic in csa2.

Just my 2 cents.
