The reason for the Focus drive is because it "kills several birds with
one stone" so to speak (figuratively...in reality I love birds and bird
watching)...it has System 6.0.1 installed, freewares and sharewares
(especially GS Shrinkit), is relatively inexpensive, and is available
from a vender that sells RAM and the ROM 1 upgrade.

Recommending the Focus drive answers most of the questions
that are asked and solves many headaches.  A good example is
the recent post of one guy who bought a CMS SCSI card.  He did
not know about the Focus drive and just wanted a cheap hard
drive solution, so he got a CMS SCSI for $50 to drive his spare
small SCSI drive.  The CMS was flaky and he had to return it
several times.  It does not support large (>32MB) HFS partitions
and resulted in tons of questions and answers...not many new
GS users are willing to plunk down $120 for a new Ramfast, so
they end up looking for cheaper $50 solutions...the CMS looks
like a cheap SCSI substitute, but it has none of the benefits of
other SCSI cards.  Focus cost the same and does more...it
may be less flexible than a Ramfast, but if the user won't spend
money to get one, the Focus is the better alternative than the
CMS...
