While I most certainly do not agree with Nathan's flamefests, I think
that I can speek for myself, Slick, maybe even Steve Metzer and
LJSILICON when I say that there is no reason to think there is no
new software (and hardware) developments even if the Apple II is old.
There are degrees of old and the Apple IIGS just happens to sit on
that tantalizing boundary between the modern and the classic. The
IIGS sound chip, for example, although not state of the art in 1998,
was LIGHT YEARS ahead of anything on ANY computer in 1986.
Even today, it can do everything it always could. Just look at the
following of "classic" Mirage and ESQ-1 enthusiasts on the web.
...many musicians still enjoy pounding the keys on these synths
(same sound chip as IIGS) to this day! The sound is definitely up
beyond the range of a Nintendo unit...
Although some site may have Lode Runner for free, I prefer to look
FORWARD to the release of the GameBoy emulator for the IIGS
and Bomberman for the IIGS...
