I invite you to read the official csa2 Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQ) at http://www.visi.com/~nathan/a2/faq/csa2.html which answers
these and many other questions you might have. For startup disks, look
in section 7.2, which details which startup disk is appropriate for
what GS configuration. The latest and greatest OS will NOT run on most
GSs sold by Apple unless users add more RAM to them as Apple should
have done. Fortunately, you can still get some older system disks, but
you'll be missing out a lot on the system.

FAQ section 7.1. The only available software for that requires an
upgraded GS from what Apple tried to pawn off as usable, and does SLIP
support. PPP is promised for shortly. No ethernet capability exists
currently-- Apple axed their completed card and software.

IDE and SCSI, but you'll have to provide a controller card to do
either. FAQ section 4.15-4.19 covers all of your options in a lot of
detail without shoving one or two precanned solutions down your throat.
