Re: Some copyright info to think about

On Asimov archiving.

I have to say the whole idea that this archive is terrible piracy is a joke. I
prefer my commodore computers over the apple in energy and money and have found
one major reason for this.

-Everything is archived!!!

I can find any assembler, game, utility, ROM image, schematic, or the usual
waste of magnetic tape space programs archived. I can pull out my PET and run
games, program... I can download a ROM and then turn around and burn a 2764 for
my Vic20. Viola, I have a cartridge that I always wanted.

The same goes for atari which I have been using more lately. I can burn eproms
and play carts I couldn't find even if I went back to 1984.

I can find memory maps of kernal roms, VIA roms, basic roms...

Is this available in my apple world? No, I need to find a routine and ask for
memory maps. I get replies to buy a list of books. I don't want a freakin book
I want a list of some equates and rom lists.

Copyrighted FAQs?? Give me a break, that is an even bigger joke. Who are these
guys, your apple fell off the tree and is not going to seed into a second
coming of comercialdom.

Apple 2 forever can only be forever with free exchange. If people want to sell
software, cool. do it. Sounds like a good business. But I see it as seriously
juicing a juiced apple community. They will be gone where are you going to get
your software for this way outdated machine??

If people havent archived the vic-20 software, hardware images, ads, promo
fliers, there would be no vic community. Same for the PET it is great that I
can sit down on a 20 year old computer and hack 6502 code. Really cool. I
really owe to it to the guys in the digital archeaology project. You will thank
people who do asimov in a few years when your machine collects dust.
