I bought my Microdrive a couple of years back from Hentry at Reactive
Micro... great product... it works the same as a hard drive. It is not
a replacement for a floppy drive.
Your question surprises me somewhat... e.g. - the notion of removing a
working floppy drive. If you want eliminate the computer altogether
you can always use an emulator... Applewin is excellent. But I would
just get things fixed if I was you and also buy a Microdrive...
I assume you use Ciderpress already and you'll need Ciderpress to
access your CF card on the PC if you get a Microdrive. Faliliarize
yourself with Ciderpress and all its features.
Now one real neat thing about the CF card is that you can easily make
disk images from real floppies and make floppies from disk images as
well as running programs directly on the CF card... and it is real
easy to transfer files between the PC and the Apple II without mucking
with cables and crapola...
Anyway, good luck and you should get an answer from Henry if you
emailed him I think although he, like the rest of us, may take a day
or so to reply, but hey, what's the rush?
