This isn't the first time you have pushed the idea of comp.sys.apple2
being the be all and end all of Apple II information. I don't think
that this is true. I'm pretty sure comp.sys.apple2 has never been THE
place to get Apple II information.

For many years we had a number of magazines devoted to the Apple II
and ads in other computer magazines and included with computer
products. Then, as the telecommunications craze took off, I don't
think it was very long before GEnie became the online center of the
Apple II universe. It continued to be so until GEnie was sold and
renamed Genie and their pricing structured became a detriment. Then
this center of Apple II knowledge moved to Delphi.

The only information you get here about new products or old ones that
are still available is through word of mouth. Most of the developer's
and companies to not read or post to usenet. There are a number of
reasons for this like the fact that you end up getting your e-mail box
filled with spam if you post to usenet without changing your e-mail
address which isn't very conducive to getting new business.

These developers and companies usually have web pages and/or FTP sites
for you to get information on their products and they also provide
support through Delphi and/or Genie. They also get mentioned in the
few remaining Apple II publications, if I'm not mistaken.

Don't get me wrong. I do think comp.sys.apple2 has its place in the
Apple II world but it is more of a user group atmosphere. Users
helping users with the occaisional celebrity presenter to introduce or
help people with their products.

The Apple II world would definitely suffer without this free forum.
