I've hooked them to the Mac and run Silverlining on them and they get a good bill of health there. I've tried shortening up the SCSI cable line and only connecting the three necessary drives (boot drive, Zip, and target drive) and the results are better, but I keep having problems. Right now I'm copying Golden Orchard from Zip disks to the target drive. If it doesn't lock up with a colored screen, I get following error message:"System Error ($0001) This Operation cannot be completed. Bad System Call Number."I've seen flaky DRAM cause problems for DMA disk controllers. The RF went through several PAL and EPROM revisions to fix issues in that area. Can you run without the expansion memory or try a different card? Also, try switching to polled transfer mode (DIP switch setting, IIRC).Steve
Thank you Steve! As I mentioned in my reply to Michael, I did try a different memory card which seemed to help (although both cards passed a BitBanger test).
I've read my RamFast manuals and can't seem to find anything about "polled transfer mode". There are no dip switches on the RamFast D that I can find.
There are some dip switches on the ZipGS, although that manual recommends you just leave them alone.
