The Print Shop was rather like desktop publishing in its infancy
stage. It was introduced in the early 80's and allowed people (even
young children) to easily create greeting cards, posters, banners,
letter heads and more--all with a stock Apple II and cheap printer.

If I'm not mistaken, it was a 90's updated version of the same
program. It added new features and greatly enhanced older ones, but
mainly it seemed to bring the 8-bit program relatively up to par
with the Apple IIGS version (color support, higher resolution print
outs, more detailed graphics, etc). There is also the Print Shop
Companion for both machines, which is another variation of the
program.
