It sounds like Wings of Fury installed a faster DOS and changed
some hooks to BASIC.
Wings' could have loaded some variant of a popular speeded version
of DOS 3.3. Or, it may have loaded a custom DOS which traded file
management features and/or storage flexibility for speed.
