I think we "get it" and the concensus is that it's a dumb idea. You face 
awfully long odds of ever finding a floppy port hard disk, even less likely
finding one cheap. Personally if I wanted to sell mine I wouldn't sell it
to someone whom I knew would misuse it in such a way.

When I found a signature edition IIgs box with ROM 0 and the old style VGC
chip still in place, the logic board had a problem where unless a joystick
was plugged into the port, it thought the command key was always pressed.
So I took the board that was in my one owner signature edition box which
had been upgraded before being replaced with a ROM 3, plucked the chips,
and swapped 'em. I have boxes full of spare logic boards and having stuff
not working right bugs me. Even though the ROM 0 box is an attic dweller
and only gets pulled out and used once in a great while.
