read ms-dos? are you sure? the rana elite 1 drive that i used
(and still have) was an apple 5 1/4 replacement. i used it
with a standard disk ][ controller card. the elite 2 & 3 were
higher desity, more tracks, sides etc. i haven't got my manual
nearby so i can't check details.

the controller was neat 'cuz it could run 4 drives, though i
forget the details. i'll look for my manual to find more.

a neat ability of the elite controller is to auto boot
both 16 _and_ older 13 sector diskettes.

Rana Systems a provided utility disk wit enhanced versions
of various Apple programs: FORMAT, CLONE, PROFILE, ENHANCE,
and FID ENHANCE.
ENHANCE contained the modification to make dos 3.3
recognize and "use the extra features of the Elite Series
products."
