Well an Apple IIgs version has been around for at least 4 years
now, but it was only just two weeks ago that the final touches were
added and it was made available to the public (finally!). :) You can
download it now from: http://www.sheppyware.ml.org

I believe it is closer to the Macintosh version, especially
considering the programmer who originally ported it also ported
Interplay's Mac version. There were some changes--the graphics
and digitized sound effects are pretty much unique to the IIgs
version, as is the musical score used in certain places.

Compared to the PC version, well, there is no background
music as you play, and the pixel scaling and frame rate are
much lesser (the PC one has a smoother feel). There is also
a difference in graphics somewhat, since the PC one is 256
colors and the GS one is mostly 16 colors. I'm fairly sure
all the PC levels are including, along with new levels that
appeared only in the Mac version. Also--there are weapons,
items and a few concepts borrowed from DOOM (i.e. rocket
launcher, flame thrower, powerup orbs, auto-mapping). The
sound effects are definitely better than the PC one. There
are pluses and minuses I suppose. Overall, it is probably
one of the most entertaining and technically advanced IIgs
games available.
