THANKS FOR THE WARNING, SABENA BELGIAN AIRLINES!

Next time I bring my Apple IIc laptop computer on a flight, I will watch
out for the magnetic trays!

Was planning on doing an around-the-world trip on Sabena Airlines, but
have cancelled my Sabena airline ticket.   Thanks for the warning about
the danger Sabena's airbuses pose to my IIc laptop!

While rambling on and on, let me add that I no longer eat hamburgers
cooked in Amarillo TX because I'm scared of catching mad-cow disease...

: A few weeks ago, one or more persons that obviously wanted to do some harm
: to Sabena were sending messagestelling that 2 individuals who were flying
: with Sabena had problems with their laptop computers. They claim that the
: tray tables on the Airbus A340 are magnetized so they would make no noise
: when they are stored in their armrests. This magnetization would cause
: problems to laptop computers.

: Sabena would like to react very strongly to these allegations since it is
: strictly impossible that such problems occured.
: the tray tables that we use are completely made of plastic, which cannot
: be magnetized and the seats that we use on our Airbus A340 don�t have any
: magnet to keep the trays in place in the armrest.

: tables in the seats of Sabena A340 aircraft are       magnetised and have
: been responsible for corrupting the disk drives of laptops."

: IATA ( http://www.iata.org ) wishes to emphasise that it does not, and
: never has, supported such a claim. It has now received confirmation from
: the seat manufacturer, the airline and the aircraft manufacturer, that
: these seats do not include any magnetic devices and therefore cannot
: inflict any damage to electronic equipment.
