Remember, that is a lithium battery.  Lithium batteries have a quirky
little trait...I found this out the hard way when my watch battery gave
out.  Lithium batteries tend to deliver darned near full voltage until
they die completely, very suddenly, and generally without (much) warning.

Fortunately, unlike (ahem) certain types of computers, Apples can run
perfectly well with dead batteries...so when the battery goes at the
beginning of a holiday weekend, you aren't stuck with a dead computer
until you can find a replacement...
