Ok, this sounds like a problem someone posted about a while back.
Do you have Express installed? Look at the control panels and
see if you can find one called Express. This is a print spooler.
If the spooler is set to silently spool to disk with the print
option off, then you will get no immediate output.
Disable Express if this is the case.

David Empson, I think, wrote a printer driver that dumps to a
file. This may be "TEXTPRINTER." Try removing the TEXTPRINTER
driver and reset the DC Printer to list ImageWriter II as the
printer.
