Re: Using a 5.25 Disk Controller Card with the IIgs

You could put it in another slot, or you can do the floppy that boots
to a PR#5. Most single load games will probably work in other slots,
but I have run across stuff in the past that, when booted in other
slots - partially through the boot sequence you would see Slot 6 start
to spin. This was where I happened to have drives in multiple slots
back in the day. If you pulled out the disk and put it in Slot 6, it
would continue on like nothing happened. That tells me that something
was hard coded to $C6xx..

But no, just confirming whats been said. There is no controller that
acts like the onboard behavior of the //c and IIgs with regards to
5.25".

What do you have that is not running on the the IIgs? Aside from
thinks like fast disk copiers and some bit copiers, I can't recall
anything specific that wouldn't actually work. Some Br0derbund titles,
but the cracks usually did work. Most of it was copy protection
related and .. cracking negated that.
