You forget the distributor and authorized reseller.  Programmer,
publisher, distributor, and authorized reseller all have the right
to make money off the product.

Even if one obscure distributor in northern Alaska still has a copy of
the product you want, he still has the right to make a profit off the
sale of it.  Only the publisher or programmer (whoever holds the right
to the software/hardware) can rescind that right.
