What is unfortunate is that some blithering idiots seem to forget why
the word Apple is in Apple II.
Let me reiterate an analogy I've used before to show how stupid this point
of view is. I own a 1970 Chevelle convertible. Chevrolet quit making Chevelles
in '77. If I subscribed to the Nathan paradigm, I would never own another
Chevrolet and want Chevrolet to go out of business because they shafted
Chevelle owners by discontinuing them and making newer products. On the con-
trary, I happen to own two newer Chevrolets, and will buy others in the future
since that is my brand of choice. Also, being a 1970 model, there are certain
things which it doesn't do as well as new Chevrolets. For instance, it gets
horrendous gas mileage, lacks antilock brakes, and has the original AM radio
in it. Nathan would say that I'm a '70 Chevelle hater because I acknowledge
that the technology is dated and new cars have more bells and whistles. Which
is of course bullpuckey, since I love that car and intend to own it until
doomsday. Likewise, I like my Apple IIs as much as the next guy in this
group. My IIgs has outlasted the first Mac on my desk and will still be there
after several Macs have come and gone.
Do I need to explain this simple concept to you any further, Nathan?
