Re: Why the heck is Apple2 and GS software not freely distributable??!

Mike, since I can post to this newsgroup, but CANNOT send EMail,
I hope that you read this...

I have been an Apple II user since 1982-ish. My main computer at
home is my trusty Apple IIgs. A few years ago, I was trying to
learn how to program the toolbox on the gs. I was using
Orca/C. I bought the "How to Program in C" and "How to program
the Toolbox" packages from ByteWorks, along with a C compiler
and Orca/M. Mike was always very helpful when I would call
with questions. The software ran very well, and the documentation
was excellent.

You, sir, were always a pleasure to deal with. It is unfortunate
that the II family is on its last legs. I have no idea how you
can afford to support these machines at all, much less to the level
that you do. (By the way, Patty was always fun to talk to also.
Pass this on to her, too.)

The II family encouraged exploration. I never wrote a commercial
program on the machine. I'm not sure I even ever "finished" a
program on the machine, but I still remember the joy of exploring
and learning, and your tools help me to do that.

I for one would strongly recommend that the community continue to
support Mike and the few other developers with our money.
