Re: Help with Wizardry 2 needed....
Wow. I played this game to death. You get a level every time you win the
game, so my head fighter became level 76 or something.

Well, you're sort of missing it. The "clue" doesn't help you at all. I
ended up calling Sir Tech about it (years ago) and they said they'd
received more complaints about that than anything else, and that the
answer was simply on the box. Just type in:
THE KNIGHT OF DIAMONDS
And you know what? It does nothing. The lion-headed guy (I think that's
what he was... it's been a few years) lets you go through the door and
says "One Alone" (I tried sending just one guy down to level 6 but he
still says the same thing). You enter a teleporter which brings you to
outside the door of the central square in level 1. You could have walked
there yourself and saved all the hassle.
Anyway, to win it, you have to send just one person wearing and wielding
all the Knight of Diamonds (KOD) equipment into that central door.
There's no big fight - just some woman who gives you a "G" by your name
and all your party gets a "K" or something like that. Only fighter
classes can wear the stuff (ninjas can't) so only they can take it. You
have to be wearing it or you won't get the woman.

No, the riddle is irrelevant. If you play the game from level 1 to 6 in
order then before each set of stairs down, you encounter one of the
Knight-of-Diamonds equipment. Cast a Latumapic or whatever the location
spell is called so you can teleport there later. You can't teleport into
level 2, so you have to walk to get the shield. It's a pain cos there
are loads of Fuzzballs.
As far as I remember, if you have a malor, the locations are (from your
first camp):
KOD Armor: 15 East, 2 North, 1 Down
KOD Shield: Walk it. There's only one way to go.
Hrathnir: Don't remember, sorry, but 3 down
KOD Helm: 7 East, 10 North, 4 Down
(or 10 and 7, don't remember exactly)
KOD Gauntlets: 10 East, 10 North, 5 Down
Each piece casts its own spell. The Armor is Bamatu, I think; The shield
is Dialma, Hrathnir (the sword) is Mahalito, Helm is Lahalito (or was it
Lakanito?) and the Gauntlets are an unlimited Tiltowait for whoever is
wearing them. Almost spoils the game. You also can't teleport into level
6, so you have to go to 10,10,5 to get to level 6.
Don't blame me if those numbers are wrong, it's been 6 or more years
since I played it last. Also, if you teleport on top of the item then it
gets replaced by a monster for some reason. You have to teleport to the
stairs down then kick the door to get to the item.

Just the memory, hence the disclaimer.
Enjoy!
