Well, you got me thinking so I just had to check things out.  I would
have tried it with a 768k machine but it would have been too much
hassle to remove my 4MB & 1MB card and reduce the 1MB to 512k to test
it.

Anyways, I just shift booted my IIgs, which is running System 6.01,
and using the About This Apple IIgs menu item under the Apple menu I
got the following results:

     Finder 418k
     System 411K
     Desk accessories zero K
     Setup files 59K

It looks to me that if you use a program launcher other than the
Finder and use small programs you could probably get away with running
a few things with System 6.01 on a IIgs with only 768k.
