I'm pretty sure the Micromodem //e is Hayes compatible; you send it an AT,
you should get OK.  Communication with the modem is via the normal I/O
hooks, so just about any comm program ought to be able to handle it.  I'm
pretty sure Kermit-65 includes a driver for the Micromodem.

Remember, Kermit doesn't have a dialer...you need to CONNECT, then issue
the dial string (ATD...) manually from the terminal mode.  Which is
convenient, as you can easily issue the AT "are-you-alive" question to the
modem.

Hmmm...Isn't the Micromodem //e a 300 baud device?  Or is yours the 1200
baud version...
