Re: OS For IIGS

Power Computing had a six month waiting list to get computers. They
couldn't have been doing that badly with such a waiting list. I know -
I waited for four of those six months before going to another company
and getting my computer within 30 days. That company went to a four
month waiting list within a month. Only reason I got my machine was I
kept at them until it was shipped to me.

It is true that clone manufacturers do not usually have as large of an
R&D group as the main computer manufacturer. However, Apple could have
worked things out better between themselves and the clone makers so they
would have gotten more than they did on a per machine basis. This
income could have then been set aside to fund new R&D for the Macs.

(And yeah, I know, probably a very simplistic view of things - but if
Apple wasn't such a glutton things would be quite a bit different.)

Oh well - my $0.02 worth.
