It could be but doubtful since you said it works ok with proterm.
Check switch settings on the Grappler + for the right settings for your 
printer and if the switch settings are correct then you might try setting 
sw 1 on the Grappler + to on which will bypass the Grappler's firmware 
and run like a plain vanilla parallel card.
