Correct. Actually, BLU is a precursor to Shrinkit. It creates Binary II
files and allows archiving of multiple files. It "squeezes" files to
achieve some compression. It isn't nearly as good as Shrinkit and its
interface is crude. You have to manually specify the source directory
and target filename and then you get a selector that shows files. Some
older FTP sites still have BLU on them but it is worthless today as
Shrinkit extracts files created by it and does a better job at
compression. The only thing I did with it was to discover that ProTERM
3.1 didn't get the Binary II spec quite right. Try uploading a file from
ProTERM with Binary II encoding on. Download that same file with
decoding off and attempt to list its contents with BLU. The result is a
weird error. Nulib also can't handle Binary II files created by
ProTERM. It says "file size broken." Note that BLU will extract (but
not list) these files and shrinkit has no problems with them. ProTERM
also has no trouble automatically extracting them if told to.
