that's because XGS is written in C so it's portable and easy for people who
want to add to the project to do so, NOT so whiny gimme-gimme types can run
all the kEWl gaMEz at hyper-speed.  XGS runs a pretty good amount of
software, and if you're so offended by the speed, i invite you to recode
the 65c816 core and the graphics routines in ASM.
