     Okay; what I did was download the file and move it the GS. First,
the "Binary 128" does not refer to any recognizable binary II header. If
the file had one, it would have been stripped off during the transfer to
the GS; instead, it is the same size as downloaded to the PC.

     As you say, the file, which is named "FVSTUFF.SHK", is rejected by
ShrinkIt (both 8-bit and GS-ShrinkIt). It is, also rejected by GSCII and
PKUnZip. On the PC, it is rejected by WinZip.

     The first block begins with a text message which says something
about the file being created by FT3 and includes some checksum numbers.
The usual "NuFX" is partially messed up by a "~" character. A scan
through the file's blocks shows frequent, random-looking occurances of
$5E and $7E bytes.

     For sure, FVSTUFF.SHK is not a valid .SHK file. Evidently, the file
was corrupted during uploading. Too bad. Maybe whoever uploaded
FVSTUFF.SHK to Asimov will give it another try.
