I will let you know if I get any good color scans working.

My scanner is the same color as my GS pltinum or whatever the color it
is. It is a shaped like a bell the wider side being the scanning side.

In the book on the 3.2 version software that is for the color option
states to tell which on you have. There is an 8 bit option in the
configure menu in the software. If you have it checked and you get clear
good scans you have an 8 bit head. If you get a scan with a cross hatched
pattern, blurry or any other added artifacts its a 6 bit scanner head in
this case you will leave the 8 bit option unchecked. I did this myself
and it is true which I have a 6 bit since the scans sucked on 8 bit option.

The software that comes with the color option is 3.2 it didn't have the
2.03 software bundled with it only if that is available from
Shareware. I have did scans with the 3.0 I got with my scanner and
it scans just fine not that I have the 2.03 software to compare it
to so i will pick it up and see. I have used the 3.2 software to do
greyscale scans and have scans come out fine
