"MS-DOS Utilities" is actually the name of a shareware software
package for the Apple IIgs (the name is a bit confusing, a fair bit
of the time people think your referring to PC utility programs that
run from an MS-DOS prompt, which it is anything but). What it is is
a collection of shell programs (runnable from GNO, Orca, ProSel-16)
that let you format, catalog, rename, copy, delete, etc most MS-DOS
media. Ironically, it uses an obscure command line interface, much
like MS-DOS itself. :)

The new version is "MUG!", which stands for [M]S-DOS [U]tilities
[G]raphical [!]nterface. Not only is the name less confusing, but it
also operates as a New Desk Accessory with standard mouse interface.
This is also nice since it is globally available from within any
GS/OS desktop software, basically the next best thing to a fully
functional MSDOS.FST (Apple never completed it, it is read only,
and the main reason MSDU and MUG! were created). You need hardware
that is MFM compatible (e.g. SuperDrive, Floptical, Zip, PCT) to
use either version of Peter Waston's program.
