Re: OS For IIGS

Although I am a Mac user and IIGS owner, I must says that all those
Windows comments are dead wrong. Obviously you have not surf the
Microsoft web sites. For example, updates to Windows 95 - service pack
1 is free, most of the features in OSR2 are also on their sites, and
the main features of Windows 98 - Internet Explorer 4 and Active
desktop, are also free. There are already more than 3 service packs
for Windows NT too, all are free.

No, they don't cost you as the original Windows 95 - you cannot even
purchase it, it is only available for OEM supplier, and you can get
most of the features for free anyway. The reason for Microsoft not
selling the newer version of Windows 95 is the same problem with
PC - they have not tested all the features with most of the user
machine out there, and it might cause them support problem. OEM
machine is easier to test.

I have installed Windows 95, updates it, installed Linux, OS/2 Warp 4,
etc without backing up and reformatting the harddisk. :) Well, some
Mac user also have problem installing Mac OS 8 on their machine.
OK, Mac is easier to use, but it does not mean we have to spread
FUD about Windows and PC.
