FlashBoot is a good utility for booting from RAM disk. It should be
available from Scantron Quality Computers (800-777-3642).

What you do is set up a 1.5MB RAM disk and follow FlashBoot
directions to create a couple System 6.01 "image diskettes". FlashBoot
works by auto-loading the contents of the image diskettes to your RAM
disk when you power-up. You have the option of setting the boot drive to
RAM disk for the rest of the session.

A 1.5MB System 6.01 is big enough to include all of the major
system files plus a few favorite programs. A FlashBooted System is a big
improvement over trying to run System 6.01 from diskettes!

In fact, someone who's been using diskettes and tries FlashBoot is
likely to quickly move to hard disk. Everything on RAM disk works so
quickly that having to use diskettes for loading and saving files
becomes intolerable. So, you can continue along the RAM disk route; or,
you can just give Alltech another call, order a 120MB Focus "Hard Card"
drive, and save a lot of bother.
